About UsIdentifying and managing eating disorders are key elements of providing comprehensive primary care.
The understanding of how best to manage eating disorders has undergone a substantial evolution over the past decade.
By focusing on identifying which patients could be at risk of developing eating disorders, the factors that could trigger this development, and the factors that may prevent recovery we will aim to provide delegates with a toolkit for early intervention with affected patients.
Effective management of ADHD and eating disorders requires the input of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). At the end of this session you will understand how an MDT approach works: you are not alone!
ADHD and ED are often associated with other pathologies and possible biological causes of symptoms must be evaluated.
When assessing a patient prior to psychiatrist review, a thorough medical and mental health history with appropriate investigations is essential.
This session will aim to provide attendees with the skills to ensure patients can access a time-appropriate, thorough and focused psychiatric assessment.
You will also learn which tests to arrange prior to psychiatric assessment to ensure prompt treatment can be initiated, what essential information must be on the referral to a psychiatrist, and how to efficiently arrange an Eating Disorder Plan to ensure comprehensive management.
